Tre Johnson is a 6’6 swingman for Texas who is already equipped with an NBA-ready skillset from a scoring perspective. Possessing solid positional length, superior athleticism, and real bounce, Johnson leverages his physical tools in tandem with a velvet-smooth jump shot to showcase himself as a three-level scorer who is equally destructive coming off of the screen and off-ball movement as he is off of the bounce, with his ability to create effortlessly within the offensive flow. There is still some work to do with his passing and decision-making before he is confused with a primary creator, but the potential is there to be tapped.

Defensively, Johnson is best described as “adequate” at this point in time. The physical tools are there, and when engaged, he is capable of defending at least three positions, but the focus and possession by possession intensity have room for growth. Johnson's ability to help on the boards is also a tremendous asset, and he is someone who tends to gravitate to the ball, which is a great intangible skill.
Ultimately, Johnson should showcase the ability to score with some of the best in college basketball, and the addition of consistent on-ball reps can truly flesh out his offensive repertoire. If he makes a significant improvement on the defensive side of the ball and continues to “cook” offensively, look for Tre Johnson to climb up draft boards in a major way.
