Most recently, Edgecombe, a native of Bimini, Bahamas, participated in the FIBA Olympic qualifying tournament, where he put his talents on the international stage. In four games, Edgecombe averaged 16.5 points, 3.8 assists, and 2 steals per game. While the Bahamas were unable to qualify for the Olympics, Edgecombe used the experience as a launchpad, excelling against NBA players and elite international pros. He even outshined fellow NBA players on the Bahamas roster, such as Deandre Ayton, Buddy Hield, and Eric Gordon. VJ showcased his full offensive repertoire—banging threes off the dribble, pushing the ball in transition to create points, and finishing in every way imaginable around the rim. Defensively, he displayed his high-energy style and turnover-creating ability. His activity against ball handlers and in passing lanes was phenomenal to watch.

VJ Edgecombe is a rare offensive prospect. It's not often you find high school guards with his combination of quickness, explosiveness, change-of-speed ability, and transition skills. Edgecombe is an improving shooter who already boasts a plus jump shot. Scoring-wise, Edgecombe is most effective attacking the basket and finishing at the rim, but he also finds success pushing the ball downhill off screens and cutting on off-ball actions. He is one of the best finishers in the 2025 draft class. The biggest area of improvement for him in the 2024-2025 season will be his ability to grow as a lead creator in the half-court.
On defense, VJ Edgecombe’s athletic gifts compensate for his lack of size, but his underrated play strength is what truly stands out. He can be a pest as a point-of-attack defender, and his lateral quickness and active hands often create steals and deflections. Edgecombe’s strength on the perimeter allows him to stand up opponents on penetration attempts after sliding on defense. The best part of Edgecombe’s defensive game is his energy—it’s infectious, energizing his teammates and the crowd. Most importantly, it leads to turnovers.
VJ Edgecombe currently ranks fourth on my personal NBA Draft big board entering the college basketball season. He is a potential franchise-changing prospect. As mentioned earlier, it’s extremely rare to find a player with the combination of athleticism, basketball IQ, energy, drive, scoring prowess, and defensive ability at the guard position. VJ Edgecombe is the exact player you want to add to your program and franchise: a competitor, leader, two-way player, and elite athlete.
In The Center Hub’s individual big boards, no scout has VJ Edgecombe outside their top five. While I can’t speak for everyone, I am a firm believer that Edgecombe is a rare prospect and a potential franchise-changer. I’ll say it again: his combination of athleticism, basketball IQ, energy, and drive on the court—along with his scoring prowess and defensive ability at the guard position—is exceptional. VJ Edgecombe is a prospect who deserves to be coveted in the 2025 NBA Draft.
